MY EXPERIENCE WITH TRADITIONAL AND VIRTUAL EDUCATION

I personally prefer traditional education just because I have been in that environment for years. I have had my education from a school since I was a child. There wasn’t even an option for online education until this pandemic.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH TRADITIONAL EDUCATION

Like I said, I have been going to a school for at least 12 years of my life and I am only 14 years old. So it is natural that I am more comfortable in that environment. The schedule with a traditional school is better to understand and manage. Moreover, I got some real experience in life and I got to meet new people every day and make friends. I could interact with my teachers face to face and clear my doubts. Moreover, I developed some great communication skills while I interacted with new people, teachers, and friends. The traditional school took up to 9 hours of my day including traveling. The school hours were only 6 and the rest of the 3 hours were spent travelling or waiting for classes to start. I could complete most of my homework in school and understand my classes well. In a traditional school, your teachers are the ones who take responsibility for education but with online school the student is responsible.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH VIRTUAL EDUCATION

My experience with virtual education hasn’t been nearly as much with traditional school but I can definitely tell you about the hardships that I faced when I started virtual education. This mode of learning requires a lot of self-discipline (which I thought I was until I started online education). I got distracted almost every class at least once. The schedule is very difficult to manage while it is more time-efficient because I don’t have to travel anywhere.

Making friends while learning online is hard. I like that I can attend classes from the comfort of my own room but I miss my friends and I never thought I’d actually say it but I miss my teachers very terribly.

On one hand, Virtual education does allow the student to focus on learning free of bullying, distractions, peer pressure, gossip, etc. But on the other hand, I think that my communication skills have gone down the drain. I can barely communicate with anyone except my friends without the conversation is awkward.  I could hardly understand my classes because there are some network issues or electricity cuts or some issue like that. That being said, I had to go over my lessons at least twice before I could finally understand them properly. In the online mode for education, my schedule was pretty flexible and less time-consuming. Moreover, my attention span has definitely reduced.

Sometimes, I do like online learning better than traditional learning. This happens when I am not feeling up to going somewhere or just not feeling well. I do like the online mode of learning but I think some adjustments can be made to make this mode of education better.

I think that in online learning distance isn’t a barrier. For example, I can communicate and learn with a person that’s sitting halfway across the globe. What I like about online learning is that I can travel as well as take classes. This is not possible with online school. I think that in online learning distance isn’t a barrier. FINAL THOUGHTS

I’d prefer a traditional school because I miss my friends and teachers. But that is not relevant when it comes to education. I think that I learn better in traditional school. But that’s just my personal preference. The lack of exposure to people while learning online made me realize that I like communicating with people. Traditional school helps me to meet new people and communicate with people from various walks of life.
